For my first blog post I’m sharing one of my favorite summer must-dos. I hope you all enjoy! ♥
Whether it’s your first outdoor movie experience or your 100th, I highly recommend attending Cinespia’s Hollywood Forever Cemetery Films! Located between Santa Monica Boulevard and Melrose Avenue, behind the famous Paramount Pictures sits the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, burial site to many notable actors. The cemetery has been the film site for numerous films, most recently Valentine’s Day and the Women in Gold, including the popular ’90s television series 90210.
The night was perfect, I attended the Top Gun screening on Fourth of July. Magical and classic are two words to describe my first experience. To add to the ambience, DJ Cut Chemist, played an immense amount of classic rock songs from the ’70s and ’80s and attendees got creative dressing as Top Gun characters or in Fourth of July attire. Due to my late arrival, I didn’t get to take advantage of the Top Gun themed photo-booth but definitely plan to next time! The night’s cherry on top was the firework show, among the many great songs throughout the show, Blitzkrieg Bop by the Ramones bought back a nostalgia (particularly if you ever played Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 growing up). Check out Gidget’s Guide below for extra tips!
Gidget’s Guide to Cinespia:
- Arrive early for a great spot- I can’t stress this enough! An early arrival will also give you time to set up, take a picture at the themed photo-booth and enjoy the DJ of the night. TIP: The photo-booth is also available post-screening.
- When it comes to food…don’t be shy! Bring your favorite picnic friendly foods.
- Beach chairs and blankets are a must! For those of you who don’t own beach chairs, like me, pillows are a great option.
- I recommend paying for the Paramount Pictures parking structure oppose to the cemetery parking to avoid traffic, both available for purchase when you buy Cinespia screening tickets. And of course, there is always Uber!
If you’re an LA local or just in town, check out Cinespia for screening dates before the summer ends!
Love,
Gidget Golightly ♥
